Krystal found; NOISE protest; Ideltech gives software and email to employees
Another puzzling week in AWARE.
Krystal's rescue. [note to self: if kidnapped contact unfiction]
Still confused from the revelation that Krystal was really kidnapped and that the kidnapper is the person who is in fact an actor name Joe Palser, the game goes on with our focus on saving Krystal from harm.
The mypuppy2 video which shows Krystal eating a sandwich with a symbol of some kind on her hand is solved. The symbol is from mahjongg (a game that Melody had mentioned in her blog, turns out that Krystal plays too. btw: thanks for the clue Melody.) And it stands for Phoenix, the self-immolating renewing creature, which is also the name of a city in Arizona. Knowing the destination is not sufficient, we have to find the car too.
Recalling that the Columbia River Rentals site recently added an email address Brian fires off an email and gets a response confirming that their green van was rented by Palser. He notifies Marcus and, in the blink of an eye, Krystal is rescued.(Marcus had also reminded us that TOBI could not track some smaller businesses, I don't know if we picked up on that hint, but it's good to remember for the future.)
Sadly for society, Palser escapes capture and remains at large.
Marcus explains the game and sends out software for employees.
In a chat, Marcus explains again that, on Marty's suggestion, he had hired a company, called "Real World Games and headed by Nash Carey, to screen employees.
This plan backfired when Krystal was kidnapped by Joseph Palser. Marty is now setting up email accounts for all employees @ideltech.com and will be setting up a company IM for employees to use.
NOISE Protest in Amboy.
Meanwhile, a protest rages in Amboy. A group called NOISE protests the use of TOBI and invasion of privacy by government-funded bots. Thad Tidwell, of the Restorers checks out the protest. After speaking to the protestors as well as a few of the players who are also opposed to the use of TOBI (or who are just being trouble makers), Thad decides to update the mission of the Restorers to specify Ideltech Information as a target for the Restorers' efforts. The updated mission is added to the website.
Along these same lines, Melody writes an editorial condemning data mining for the Amboy Monthly. She also reports on the protest.
Blogs of life
Marcus reveals some of his inner life in a blog found by an unfiction player. He reveals that voice recordings exist which may have conversations he had with Melody, he is going to review them as she is using a digicam to record him. It's so ugly wheh things go bad between friends. It seems that he is lonely and confused and actually likes Melody when she is mad at him (more on that in a sec.) After drinking alone in a strange bar for hours he is given a ride home by a person named "Elias." He gives Elias a job at Ideltech, for reasons that remain elusive.
Meanwhile, Thad takes a shine to Melody, takes her to a musuem and bowling. Melody starts to like him as she reports in her blog. She remains angry at Marcus for damaging her "journalistic credibility" by setting up all the fake stuff she saw when she was investigating the Professor.
