Prof on the move. What's the puppy?

No news from Krystal. Marcus hires a Private Investigator to look for her. The PI goes to the Prof.'s last known address, but finds only a server. Marty gets the bright idea of doing some tech thing with the server, which takes down several websites and possibly releases a virus so powerful and elegant that Marty is just thrilled. The rest of us are not so excited about it. Marcus has a little chat to explain what happened.

Meanwhile, the Professor is on the bus riding to Las Vegas, his temporary home. He contemplates God, gets a puppy after remembering the one he lost as a child when he let it out of the fence, then complains about it's excessive urination. (Is this puppy reference to a movie?) He keeps up the Phantom idea, and claims to not remember making a phone call to Ursulla. We search in vain for a chat location, which turns out to be a broadcast that the Prof. eventually gives us the address for. Marcus keeps interrupting the broadcast. A group of grendel supporters, people who will help the prof, starts on Yahoo.

Results of the first part of the employment process are posted and the second part-- an online iq quiz that seems to exist only to get people to buy certificates of their high scores--begins. Marcus is getting grouchy and highhanded as people leave ideltech to help the professor. And he seems to be turning off each woman he chats with, each in their own individual way, quite a talent.

A disturbing video of a person who has been kidnapped called "mypuppy" is emailed to the grendelsupporters group. A substitution cypher gives a message that the person was taken for their own protection.

Melody looks around and finds a car registered to Virginia Vogel overgrown in a field of marijuana. hmm- how high does that stuff grow? Bloodstains are all over the front seat, she gets a sample. A quick visit to Krystal's family in Roseburg (Krystal never mentioned them) confirms she is missing. Melody gets the police to check the car, burn the chronic and finds an odd group of Native Americans she can't communicate with.

Sometime after that she returns to Amboy, talks to Marcus--who continues his winning ways with women telling her he's not interested-- and interviews the macho man Thad, founder of the Amboy militia. We get a new website.
