Phantom of the Opera

As Tobi cannot interpret popular culture references easily, the Professor insists on using them for his clues. This book turned into Broadway musical complete with famous crashing chandelier into the audience is one of his references(sigh).

The Story:

The Phantom is a man who haunts the Paris Opera House looking for talent. Due to his extreme facial deformity he hides from the world, living in his Lair in the labyrinth of the opera's basement, and wears a mask to conceal his face from the world. He loves Christine, a young understudy for Carlotta, who the phantom decides is standing in the way of Christine's career. He writes notes to the theater managers telling them that Carlotta gets the silent role of Pageboy while Christine stars or else... Christine can visit the Phantom's lair through the mirror in her dressing room. In turns out that Raoul also loves Christine. So we have conflict over her. Other stuff happens and then Raoul goes to rescue Christine from the Phantom but, guess what, he becomes entrapped. Should Christine agree to marry the Phantom to save Raoul? Will she?? Well, whatever, she ends up with Raoul, the Phantom disappears. And, in the novel, the Phantom is named Eric.
